Last of the Summer Wine

More photos

Update Photos: August 26, 2014
Below Summer Wine is hot and sweaty, but it is 95 degrees outside and she is still having fun running around
Here Summer Wine and Ne'vi near the tree and Tucker just hanging out.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Early rising this morning, went out to feed mares and surprise...Stormy Weather was definitely in foal, but no longer. Believe this is a filly and was out with 6 mares and foals, just visiting with the herd. Brought the mare and foal in...snapped some photos, fed and watered mom and left them in for the day so little one could rest and bond with mom. Thinking of calling her: Toad Hill's Last of Summer Wine... last tv program I saw last night and she is the last foal for this summer.

Toad Hill's Last of the Summer Wine is the filly born to Stormy 7/31/2014.  AMHR registered. Mare is Toad Hill's Stormy Weather (AMHR-37") and sire is Lucky Four RebelChase RebelHeir (AMHA/AMHR).

Little Dove's First Foal - 5/23/2014

Pleased to announce the birth of a black pinto colt sired by Foxfire's Picture Perfect. His markings are very similar to Little Dove's, with no indication of LWO or sabino. I also wonder if this little guy has a CR gene in him since his upper thigh looks gray not jet black.

He was born just before 1 AM on May 25, Saturday on the lawn next to the gates where two mares with foals were pastured. That's where my grandson saw her when he came home. Little Dove then took the foal down to the barn and I found her in the same alley that Willow had her 2014 foal.

Toad Hill's Zipper - Foaled 5/25/2014

June 28, 2014

 May 25, 2014

So this is Toad Hill's Little Zipper. She is just under 2 weeks old now (May 25, 2014) and you can already see she has attitude and spunk.

Below is the family portrait viewing from left to right:
Zipper
Mom...Toad Hill's Wind in the Willows
Dad....Lucky Four RebelChase Rebelheir.

Also Willow has already been bred back to Rebel for a 2015 foal.

Foaled May 13, 2014.

Foal was born sometime at night in the alley between two buildings. The alley is 30 feet by 10 feet so plenty of room, but at one end is a horse panel with about 1 foot clearance below it. From the evidence of the after birth being in the alley and the foal in the adjacent stall this is what probably happened.
Mare foaled, foal was dried off and nursed, then lay down to sleep. When the foal got up, it rolled under the fence, up on the wrong side. Tried to get back to mom, jumped 1 1/2 feel jump into the adjacent stall and that is where I found her this morning.

One hour after finding the foal, and the after birth I decide everything looked good and let the kid out. They ran down to join ShowCase and her colt.

April 29, 2014
April 29, 6 am out feeding minis. Walked around the side of the house and see Tucker pulling something on the ground. At first I though it might be a large wild rabbit, but a little closer and I thought, no -- it looks like afterbirth. Rushed to be the back of the house and looked in the pen. There was Foxfire's Showcase with her new little colt.
Not yet named, but dry and walking around. That's the little kid peeking out behind Showcase.

I managed to coax them into the shed so they would not get wet. This evening I will put both of them in the barn to make sure the little kid stays dry and warm.
